Elizabeth Ritchie is a Texas-based pianist originally from Harrisonburg, Virginia. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2022 with her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from James Madison University, where she studied with Dr. Eric Ruple, and received collaborative coaching from Dr. Gabriel Dobner. During her undergrad, she attended the Technique Intensive at Louisiana State University, studying with professors from Eastman and LSU, and was the 2020 winner of the VMTA Concerto Competition, Division B. Upon her graduation from JMU, she won the Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship for first-year graduate studies and the competitive University of North Texas Eastman Scholarship to pursue her Master’s in Collaborative Piano Performance at UNT in the studios of Dr. Elvia Puccinelli, Dr. Steven Harlos, and Dr. Liudmila Georgievskaya. A passionate collaborator, Elizabeth has performed as a pianist with a variety of instrumentalists, vocalists, chamber groups, and wind ensembles.
She performed as the pianist for the James Madison University Wind Symphony (2021-2022) as well as with a wind quintet at UNT to form the Amici Sextet. Playing with Amici, she was a prizewinner in the 2022/23 American Virtuoso International Music Competition chamber music division, and performed with them at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in November, 2023. In the summer of 2024, she received a scholarship to attend the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria, studying in Dr. Gabriel Dobner’s lieder studio. She has performed in masterclasses with piano luminaries such as Marina Lomazov, Redi Llupa, Jean Barr, and Malcolm Martineau, as well as with singers Wolfgang Brendel and Thomas Hampson. Elizabeth was awarded a competitive scholarship and Teaching Assitantship to pursue her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano at Arizona State University beginning in January, 2025. In addition to her studies and performances, Elizabeth maintains an active teaching schedule throughout the Texas DFW area.
